Interfacce Rete Mobile
Introduzione
I servizi di Rete Mobile Vodafone attualmente commercializzati si basano sugli standard internazionali GSM e UMTS.
Il GSM è stato realizzato in ambito Europeo tramite l'istituto ETSI e confluito nel Gruppo Internazionale di lavoro 3GPP responsabile della standardizzazione ai suoi sviluppi più recenti e, in particolare, al nuovo sistema UMTS.
La creazione di questi standard è stata concepita già per sua natura per consentire la creazione di un'interfaccia universalmente concordata e resa disponibile pubblicamente per consentire, fra l'altro, a qualunque costruttore di realizzare terminali mobili in grado di interlavorare con tutte le reti GSM e UMTS. Finalità
Scopo del documento è di fornire le specifiche di riferimento delle interfacce di rete fornite da Vodafone per l'accesso ai servizi di telecomunicazione, in ottemperanza al Decreto legislativo 9 maggio 2001, n. 269, che recepisce in Italia la Direttiva 1999/5/CE e che prevede all'articolo 4, comma 2, che gli operatori delle reti pubbliche di telecomunicazioni rendano pubbliche le specifiche tecniche di interfaccia offerte al pubblico.
Vengono brevemente descritte le interfacce seguendo le linee guida indicate da ETSI tramite il documento ETSI EG 201 838 V1.1.1 (2000-10) riportando le specifiche di riferimento a cui le interfacce aderiscono.

I seguenti documenti rappresentano lo stato di compliance di Vodafone alle specifiche di riferimento degli enti di standardizzazione. L'attuale stato di compliance della rete Vodafone è descritto nel paragrafo 4: " Release di Rete".
Laddove non specificato Vodafone è comunque compliant alla baseline "3GPP R4 3GPP R4 Dec 2003" per quanto riguarda l'interfaccia radio GSM e alla baseline "3GPP R5 June 2004" per quanto riguarda l'interfaccia radio UMTS.

Release di rete
L'attuale release di rete di riferimento Vodafone per quanto attiene alla interfaccia di rete mobile NTP ( interfaccia radio tra terminale d'utente e rete) e' rappresentato dai seguenti principali rilasci di specifiche ETSI/3GPP. Trasmissione e ricezione
Attualmente Vodafone opera sulle seguenti bande secondo diverse assegnazioni sul territorio nazionale regolate dal Ministero delle Comunicazioni:
- GSM 900: bande di frequenza da 902.8MHz a 912.8MHz Uplink e da 947.8MHz a 957.8 MHz Downlink
- GSM1800: bande di frequenza da 1770.2MHz a 1784.8MHz Uplink e da 1865.2MHz a 1879.8 MHz Downlink
- UMTS2100: bande di frequenza da 1970MHz a 1980MHz Uplink e da 2160MHz a 2170 MHz Downlink

Descrizione
Generale
Il sistema di telecomunicazioni mobili adottato da Vodafone aderisce agli standard GSM e UMTS. IL GSM opera nella gamma radio dei 900 MHz e, nella sua derivazione DCS, nella banda radio 1800 MHz. L'UMTS opera nella gamma dei 2100MHz. Il GSM è stato pubblicato dall'ente Europeo ETSI ed in seguito conferito all'organo 3GPP che ne cura l'evoluzione a livello mondiale insieme alla standardizzazione dell'UMTS.
Il Punto di Terminazione Rete (NTP)
Il presente documento si applica alla interfaccia di terminazione utente della rete mobile GSM/DCS e UMTS rappresentato dal terminale mobile d'utente. L'interfaccia di riferimento descritta e' quindi l'interfaccia radio vista dal terminale.
Caratteristiche del Layer di Trasmissione
Le caratteristiche del layer di trasmissione sono standardizzate e si fa riferimento al paragrafo:

Procedure di Gestione del Controllo, della Mobilità e delle Risorse Radio
